Wöchendlicher Serverabsturtz (Probleme mit Festplatte?)

Hallo,
ich betreibe einen kleinen rootServer bei Hetzner
System: openSuse 11.3
Seit einiger Zeit stürzt der Server in mehr oder weniger regelmäßigen Abständen ab
Er läuft erst wieder, wenn ich im Rescue Modus mit

Code: Select all

fsck -C0 -y /dev/md2
alle Fehler korrigiert habe.
Nachdem ich den Server gestern nicht mal im Rescue erreichen konnte, habe ich einen Hardware-check in Auftrage gegeben.
Beim Check wurden jedoch keine Probleme festgestellt. :-?

Alle logfiles sind "nichts sagend"
Es gibt keine Vorwarnung vor dem Absturtz (keine hohe traffic, keine übermäßigen Festplatten-aktivitäten)
load= 0,6 bis 0,9

bin total Ratlos! Kann mir jemand weiter helfen?

Du solltest ggf. mit smartmontools die Gesnundheit der Platte regelmässig und genau prüfen.
Leider ist das Auffinden von Hardware ´defekten besonders bei sterbenden Platten nicht grad einfach.
Das System mit opensuse 11.3 an Bord, ist demnach min. eine Jahr aber vermutlich schon knapp 1,5 -2 Jahre Online.
Durchaus eine Lebenzeit wo es vereinzelt zu "normalen2 ausfällen der Disks kommen kann.
RAM könnte natürlich auch eine Ursache sein.
Ich würde das System im Rescue booten und mit einem entsprechenden Hardwaretest gründlich mehrere Tage durchtesten.
Hetzner, meine ich, hat ebenfalls ein passendes Image dafür.
02:32:12 21.12.2012 und dann sind Deine Probleme alle unwichtig.

Lass bitte mal einen ausführlichen SMART-Test über die Festplatten laufen.
Welches Filesystem? Welche Mountoptionen?

Ext3 ohne riskante Mountoptionen ist gut, somit wird es mit sehr hoher Wahrscheinlichkeit eine sterbende Festplatte sein.

was heißt "ohne riskante Mountoptionen" (ich glaub ich steh auf dem schlauch)
Der test der Platten verlief ohne geloggte fehler :-?
Jetzt schiebt mir kswapd den load auf >7
Ich glaub es wird zeit für neue Hardware. Oder?

Bevor Hardware getauscht wird, sollten die Kabel/Stecker geprüft werden. Auch die RAM-Riegel könnten sich gelockert haben.


Man kann Filesysteme mit Optionen mounten, welche das Risiko von Datenverlusten drastisch steigern, dafür aber geringfügig mehr Performance bringen. Diese Mountoptionen können aber in sehr seltenen auch zu Lasten der Festplattenlebensdauer gehen.
Bei Dir sind die Mountoptionen aber vollkommen in Ordnung.


Poste mal die Ausgabe von dmesg vielleicht ist dort etwas Auffälliges zu finden.

Leider auch sauber. Das "unknown partition table" ist normal, da diese auf sda/sdb liegt und nicht in den md.
Somit bleibt die Ursache für das beschädigte Dateisystem weiter unbekannt und ich tippe weiterhin auf ein Hardwareproblem, wahrscheinlich gelockerte Kabel/Stecker oder eine sterbende Festplatte.

Die Leute von Hetzner haben nochmal die kabel gecheckt (richtig ran gedrückt) mal schaun ob es hilft.
Ich denke auf lange Sicht, wirds wohl besser sein wenn ich mir nen neuen Server hole der Festplatten der Enterprise Klasse hat.
Die sollen ja angeblich länger halten

Is dir eine Möglichkeit bekann wie man bei opensuse im laufenden Betrieb das Dateisystem repatiert? Mit fsck soll man ja ne menge kaputt machen können

Im laufenden Betrieb kannst Du Dateisysteme auf denen sich /var, /usr oder / befinden nicht reparieren, da diese im laufenden Betrieb zwingend benötigt werden und deshalb nicht unmounted werden können. Andere Dateisysteme lassen sich nach einem umount reparieren.
Empfehlen würde ich grundsätzlich vom Rescuesystem aus zu reparieren, damit keine unerwarteten Störungen durch laufende Prozesse oder Cronjobs entstehen können und die Festplatten nicht überlastet werden. Zudem geht es etwas schneller.
