Hi Leute.
Habe mir gestern die sourcen von dem 2.6.11.4er kernel gezogen. alles konfiguriert und installiert. auch schön in lilo.conf eingetragen. nach dem reboot mit dem neuen kernel sagt er mir dann:
kernel panic - please append a valid root= option
oder sowas. in lilo.conf habe ich allerdings die option root=/dev/hda4 . wo ist das problem? ich habe ext3, ext2 und den ide treiber fest in den kernel einkopiliert... weiss einfach nicht weiter...

öhm.. ja, ich sehe meine partitionen.. sieht alles ok aus. aber mit dem alten 2.6er kernel. mit dem selbst kompilieretn kann ich wie gesagt nicht booten..

Begründete Vermutung: du hast den Kernel falsch kompiliert, und dein festplattencontroller (bzw. die daran hängenden Platten) werden nicht erkannt.
Leg mal einen Mitschnitt des Bootens irgendwo hin, wo man sich das mal anschauen könnte. Alles andere ist Ratespielchen.

gut. werde ich morgen mal alles online legen. lilo.conf output von fdisk -l und die bootmeldungen. hoffe einer kann mir helfen... :(

öhm... wieso das? das ist meine / partition und der orginal debian 2.6er kernel bootet ja. habe davor noch ein anderes linux installiert...

Kommt unter anderem auch dann vor wenn das Filesystem von /dev/hda4 nicht in den kernel kompiliert wurde, oder nur als modul da ist oder eben gar nicht kompiliert wurde.kernel panic - please append a valid root= option
einfach
cd /usr/src/linux && make menuconfig
und da dann unter Filesystems dein FS als "in den kernel kompilieren" markieren, das ist das sternchen (M heisst modul)
