Strato Kernel 2.6.6

Hallo Forum,

ich versuche gerade für meinen Strato Server eine Kernelumstellung von 2.4.26 nach 2.6.6. Hab alles schön nach Anleitun von http://www.thomashertweck.de/kernel26.html gemacht.

Problem:
1. Die Console will nicht mehr (bleibt alles schwarz)
2. Rechner nicht mehr erreichbar

Also so hab ich es gemacht:
1. alte config kopiert
2. make oldconfig && make prepare
3. make
4. make modules_install
5. bzImage und System.map nach /boot kopiert
6. Grub angepasst

zu dem Thema habe ich hier mal was gelesen:

Bei jedem Kernel muss als Parameter übergeben werden:
append ="console=tty0 console=ttyS0,57600" .....usw

hmmm... kein "make modules"?

in der boot.msg steht am Anfang das er keione module findet. Denke ich, denke ich! :)

Das hat bei 2.6 nichts zu bedeuten und man kann es wohl ignorieren.

Schau mal nach, ob die du den Consolen-Support auch einkompiliert hast.

Ansonsten frag ich mich: Habt ihr alle zu viel Zeit oder wieso seid ihr geil auf den neuen Kernel? 2.4.26 läuft astrein und im 2.6er ist nix, was bei nem Strato-Rootie von Relevanz wäre. Video? ACPI? ALSA? zB auf nem Server?

auch wenn es nicht an mich gerichtet war, und ohne ein Flamewar zu starten. ;) Am 2.6 Kernel sind wesentliche Ã?nderungen die insgesamt einiges an Performance mehr bringen sollen, und kann auf einem Server durchaus seinen Sinn machen. hth Anton :)

Besonders für Gameserver würden sich nptl und preemphatives (schreibt man das so auf deutsch?) Multitasking lohnen

Also auf meinen zwei "Celeron 300" Linux-Maschinen läuft der 2.6.7 einwandfrei und hat bestimmt 20-30% mehr performance! Bootzeit verkürzt sich merklich.

Gerade bei den CPUs ist es wirklich merkbar!
