wie man hier und da (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serial_Attached_SCSI) lesen kann, ist SAS zu S-ATA abwärtskompatibel. Ich kann also S-ATA-Platten an SAS-Kabeln betreiben.
Ist es möglich, in einem 19''-Gehäuse mit SAS-Backplane S-ATA-Platten zu betreiben?

Da die Platten die gleichen Abmessungen haben und SAS abwärtskompatibel ist, sollte das möglich sein, sofern der nötige SAS-to-SATA-Adapter reinpasst.

Es funktioniert. Man kann sogar SAS,SSD,SATA Festplatten an einem RAID Controller bedienen. Getestet mit Adaptec 2405 und 3WARE 9750SA-4I, funktioniert in jedem Fall einwandfrei.
