öhm, ich hab da mal eine Frage! Ist SeCoTo auf dem Weg zurück? Kann mir dazu jemand was sagen? Ich war eben auf der Webseite (XXXXX) und irgendwie sieht es so aus als würde da was passieren oder?

Wäre übertrieben oder und anrufen? Naja weis nicht aber könnte man ja wirklich mal. Wenn ich was weis kann ich es ja verkünden für den Fall des es jemanden interessiert. Kannst wenn du möchtest auch den kompletten Topic löschen.

Also die SeCoTo Website ist auf jeden Fall dieses Jahr aktualisiert worden. Leider ist Saschas Webshop unter pixelSpread.de seit längerem kaputt, so dass man auch über diesen Umweg keine Infos erhalten kann. Bleibt also momentan nur Telefon oder Vitamin B.

Also ich hab da gerade angerufen und mit einem Herrn Brauer gesprochen. Der hat mir erzählt das die Software wohl derzeit komplett neu entwickelt wird. Eine erste Version soll mitte / ende September erscheinen.
Es soll wohl komplett in Komponenten aufgeteilt sein und auch Module unterstützen. Für den Anfang wären Apache2, Bind9, proftp, Cyrus und Postfix vorgesehen. Am Anfang wird mal wohl nur Debian unterstützen und es soll im Verlauf des kommenden Jahres eine Multiserver Edition geben mit der man mehrere Server Administrieren kann. Finde das hört sich interessant an. Im Laufe des Tages will er mit auch noch ein Factsheet senden.

WOW, danke für den Anruf und die Infos. Da bin ich ja mal gespannt, wie schnell man dem dann das Debian-only wegpatchen kann ;)

Ich hab da noch eine Frage :) Hab jetzt ein wenig mehr zu SeCoTo gegoogelt. Also der Entwickler, dieser Sascha, öhm... also was ich halt lese ist das die Software durchaus brauchbar war aber nie einen nutzbaren Stand erreicht hat ist das richtig? Und wenn ja woran hat das gelegen? Es scheint ja schon durchaus gehyped geworden zu sein.

SeCoTo hatte durchaus das Potential dem damals Quasi-Monopol auf dem deutschen Markt, Confixx, kräftig Paroli zu bieten. Entsprechend wurde es auch per Mundpropaganda gepusht, recht erfolgreich so gar. Leider schlief das Projekt dann langsam ein, was 2004 letztendlich zum zweiten Adminpanel der RootForum-User führte: SysCP beziehungweise Froxlor

MVC und strikte Code<->Design-Trennung waren 2003 noch nicht wirklich angesagt wie heute, wobei ich MVC als dumme Einbahnstrasse erachte, aber das gehört hier nicht her ;)

@Joe User meinst du das dass diesmal was gibt und wenn ja kann man davon ausgehen das es eine gute Software wird? Hab gesehen das die Software unter LGPL veröffentlicht werden soll.

Es wird sicherlich ein neues Produkt geben und der Source sollte angenehmer sein als damals. Aber ob sich SeCoTo am Markt behaupten kann und wielange das Projekt leben wird, mag ich derzeit nicht beurteilen. Ich traue Sascha und seinen Mitstreitern aber Einiges zu, lassen wir uns überraschen.

Bin im Tunnel wie es so schön heisst. Also wir arbeiten dran. Große Teile des Kerns sind bereits fertig. Leider beantsprucht uns das Tagesgeschäft derzeit etwas extrem. Grüße
