Damit kopierst Du die komplette Platte umkomprimiert, d.h. auch die nicht belegten Blöcke, änderst die Partitionsgrößen usw. dd reagiert übrigens auf Signale - pv ist nicht nötig.

Grundlagen ... Wenn Du ein tar des Systems machst, wird dies wie ein ZIP-Archiv behandelt - damit komprimierst Du den Inhalt der Platte, mehr als 2 GB dürfte das nicht groß sein.

Transferierst Du dagegen die Platte, ist die Datenmenge erst einmal so groß wie die Platte, Kompression hilft zawr, aber da dürfte wesenlich mehr über die Leitung gehen.

Ziel Platten/Partitionen sind noch leer nicht hat geklappt. (war zu müde gestern)

Ich kenne schon den unterschied zwischen tar und dd.

Nur habe ich mich per Hand die die anweisungen von Joe und sein Script gehalten, dann spinnt/schaltet Telnet sich zwischen.

Ich würde es gerne machen wenns auch mal ankommen würde.
Nun habe ich vor drei Tagen einfach mal die Partitionen gelöscht auf dem Server und neue wieder angelegt und formatiert.

Nun Prügelt und Steinig mich, das ist mein erstes Backup dieser Art. Der Nebenefeckt der enstehen soll, ist halt das der 4-4 Server das selbe system haben soll wie ich hier fahre (ausser die Desktopfunktionen wie DVBT etc. ..., die werden nachträglich deinstalliert).
Ich bin bis jetzt anders verfahren, mit nen Lokalen Netzwerk via FTP und CD/DVD Variante (1:1 Kopie).

Desweitern sollte ich erwähnen das die Filesysteme im Zielsystem nicht mit dem der Quelle übereinstimmen.
Sprich die Quelle /dev/hdb sind alle reiserFS, im Zielsystem aber nicht dort : sda1 ext3 = /; sda2 = swap; sda3 xFS = /usr; sda4 xFS /srv (für die Homes; WWW; FTP etc. ...)

Hier als RescueSystem benutze ich Knoppix 5.0 und auf dem Zielserver läuft als Rescuesytem : debian/etch - 2.6.x (64 bit) (ist egal welches Rettungssystem ich von 4-4 benutze).

Ich war am anfang abgeneigt gegen Images, da dd aber nun für eine 17 GB Partition, 2 Stunden gebraucht hat ist es recht brauchbar. Ich habe dd schon für den Q-Emu benutzt um Images zu erstellen.

Mann könnte jetzt um es kompriemiert nutzen zu können doch nur den Code so ändern:

dd if=/dev/hdb1 bs=512 | gzip -c | ssh HierMeinBenutzer@willst.du.garnicht.wissen.info "dd of=/dev/sda1 bs=512"

Welche Metode ist hier überhaupt angebracht. Via TFTP/NFS/FTP gehts net (Autoinstall), auf den Backupserver komme ich auch net via ftp ??!!?? Was komisch ist, denn da könnte ich die Images Parken und hätte selber von meinen Server/Rechner ein komplettes BackUp der Partitionen.

Da auf dem Server kein telnetd läuft, dürfte Dein Knoppix kaputt sein. Nimm bitte mal die SystemRescueCD aus dem Link der vorigen Seite, um meine Einschätzung zu bestätigen.

Wenn er mein Script exact umsetzt, dann nutzt er unfreiwillig telnet. Daher will ich zuerst evaluieren, ob sein Knoppix kaputt ist, oder das Rescuesystem des Anbieters. Hierfür habe ich auf die SystemRescueCD (Gentoo) bestanden, da diese definitiv nicht kaputt ist und somit dem Anbieter der schwarze Peter zugeschoben werden kann.

Und das kommt auch mit Ubuntu, bei der SystemRescueCD habe ich leider das DSL Modem / Device nicht angesprochen bekommen und muste auf Ubuntu Fasty (Live-DVD) ausweichen.

Also noch mal:

SSH-Zugang bekomme ich zur Zeit nur über den Terminalserver von 1&1, da ja kein OS auf den Zielplatte/Partitionen ist.
Folgende Rescue Systeme werden mir gestellt:

Linux Rescue-System (debian/woody - 2.4.x)
Linux Rescue-System (debian/woody - 2.6.x)
Linux 64-bit Rescue-System (debian/sarge - 2.6.x)
Linux 64-bit Rescue-System (debian/etch - 2.6.x)

Wie gesagt ich hätte ja die SystemRescueCD gerne genutzt, wie gesagt ichn konnte da nur mein DSL Modem nicht einrichten. Ich hab einfach die pppoe config net gefunden.
Als Locales Rettungssystem habe ich mitlerweile diverse:

Ubuntu-Linux Live-CD/DVD
SuSE-Linux 10.1 Live-CD/DVD
Knoppix 5.0 DVD

Ist es nicht jetzt echt einfacher:

Image der Partionen zu machen, packen, mit cp auf /dev/sda4/ (Zielpatition mit 250 GB Platz) schieben dort entpacken, via loop mounten und Kopieren.

Wenn Du das über den Konsolenserver machst, läuft das Aufspielen mit 9600 bis 19200 baud.

Geh ins Rettungssystem des Rechners, da direkt per SSH rein, mit zwischengeschalteten Pseudoterminals ist das kein Wunder ...

Ich werde mal die partition wieder neu herstellen da der dd code tasächlich was bewirkt hat.

Ich werde jetzt mal bischen spielen wenns fertig is und geklappt hat, sag ich bescheid.
