hoher CPU load durch PHP?

hi

habe mir vor 2 Tagen n Strato Rootserver geholt und dieses soweit eingerichtet.
Daten:
CPU: Celeron 2,4ghz, 512mb ram
Kernel: Linux 2.4.25 i686

Apache 1.3.26
PHP Version 4.2.2
MySQL: 3.25.52

Nun läuft nur 1 Website drauf (php), diese jedoch verurscht schon nur bei 5-10 besuchern ein CPU load von 30-70%!!!!!!!
Ich bin ratlos! Die Homepage lief davor problemlos und schnell auf einem virtuellen server!

das httpd so oft gestartet wurde ist auch i.o?

Ich währe euch sehr sehr dankbar wenn ihr mir ein Paar tips geben könnt wie ich dem Problem auf die Spur kommen kann.

Wäre es ein Risiko hier den phpinfo.php link zu posten (evtl ist da n fehler drinne?!?)

Aehm ich kenne mich jetzt nicht so gut mit kommerziellen Root-Server Angeboten aus, wohl aber mit der Problematik an sich - PHP. Ich nehme an, dass du diese Ausgabe aus einer SSH-Sitzung mit deinem Server hast, oder?

Die komischen Zeichen koennten Interpretationen der jeweiligen Konsole sein (PuTTY macht das bei mir haeuftg mit Umlauten etc.). Ansonsten kann es gut sein, dass du eine unguenstige Server-Konfiguration hinsichtlich des Webservers hast. Der Apache(2) liefert ein benchmark-Programm mit, dass du mal testen kannst. Desweiteren wuerde ich dir in jedem Falle Apache 2 empfehlen - allein schon wegen Sicherheit, Funktionalitaet und Perfomance.

Andererseits kann es auch sein, dass deine PHP Skripte einfach unperformant programmiert sind. Das geschiet beispielsweise durch rekursive Datenbankabfragen, Behandlung großer Datenmengen etc. Auch koennen unguenstige MySQL-Query-Konstrukte den zustaendigen Rechner schnell ins Schwitzen bringen.

Das mit der Prozessausgabe ist jedoch sehr merkwuerdig. Um das o.g. wirklich auszuschließen, wuerde ich mal den Support bitten, einen Teil des ps-Logs dir als Mail oder so zu schicken, wo du es im PlainTextFormat ansehen kannst.
Dann wuerde ich mal einen Testlauf machen, wenn moeglichst keiner die Seite außer dir besucht und sehen was passiert, bei welchen Skriptaufrufen wieviel Prozesse gestartet werden und was am laengsten dauert - das sollte auch an der Geschwindigkeit des Seitenaufbau erkennbar sein.

Es ist keine Fehler in der Strato-Hardware, sondern ein Softwarefehler seitens des Apache´s in Suse 8.1.

Irgendwelche Prozesse hängen sich als auf und treiben die Serverlast hoch. Soweit ich das jetzt mitbekommen habe, ist es ein Fehler in Core.
Lösung: Aktuellen Apache installieren.

Das ist eine alte buggy suPHP-Version. In der aktuellen ist das gefixed (okay, dafür ist darin ein anderer Bug, der ist aber immerhin im HEAD state schon gefixed). Ich verstehe nicht, dass Strato immernoch diese uralte Version von suPHP auf die System macht. Sag das bitte mal dem Support von denen. Du darfst mich ruhig zitieren.

Wo wir gerade dabei sind. Welche Erfahrungen hast du/habt ihr mit suPHP gemacht? Auch jetzt mal Zwecks Sicherheit und Ausgereiftheit des Moduls, ich bin immer noch am Zögern, ob ich auch fuer solche Erfweiterungen entwickeln soll.

ich hab nun apache2, mysql 4 und php 4.3.4 installiert.

Nun habe ich n anderes Problem. Und zwar stürzt der Apache2 nach ca 7-10 std im betrieb sozusagen ab. er generiert lauter neue Prozesse, aber die Website ist nciht mehr erreichbar.

da hilft nur noch n apache stop + restart

weiss jemand wieso er plötzlich aufgibt?
Das complilieren des Apache lief ohne probleme, so das ich davon ausgehe das es an der Binärdatei nicht liegt!

auf dieser website läuft ein browsergame mit "normalerweise" über 100.000 hits täglich, aber der Apache gibt immer noch nach eingin Stunden auf!!!

Ich hab leider keine referenzwerte gefunden, aber mit 8 Leuten auf der Website sagt "top"
