unter http://www.rootforum.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=13752 ist prima beschrieben, wie man von suse 8.1 auf suse 8.2 kommt.
hat auch jemand schon mal ein update eines 1&1 rootservers von 8.2 auf 9.0 probiert? ich halte mich wirklich für einen erfahrenen admin, aber nach der oben genannten anleitung kann man wohl kaum vorgehen. und ausprobieren möchte ich es auf meinem rootserver auch nicht, da dort doch zu viele kunden drauf sind.
aber für erfahrungen von anderen wäre ich sehr dankbar. vielleicht hat jemand ja auch schon ein so nettes howto wie obiges angelegt und ich kann es nur nicht finden ;-)

Ich komme erst nächste Woche dazu, das neue HowTo zu schreiben und zu testen. Wenn Alles glatt geht, liegt das HowTo im Stiefel ;)

Für die "Durchgeknallten": 8.1 -> 9.0 ist remote definitiv nicht machbar.
Für die "Alpha-Tester": 8.2 -> 9.0 sollte mit meinem (angepasstem) 8.1/8.2-HowTo funktionieren...

Sorry, ich habe meine Tests eingestellt, da der nötige Aufwand den Nutzfaktor deutlich übersteigt. Wer SuSE 9.0 haben möchte, sollte auf das offizielle Image warten, oder ein "normales" Systemupdate per YaST riskieren :-/

SuSE 9.0 kommt unter anderem mit einem gegen /lib/i686/libc.so gelinktem RPM4, während RPM3 aus SuSE 8.x gegen /lib/libc.so gelinkt wurde. Desweiteren wird /lib/i686 bereits bei SuSE 8.x "gefunden", wodurch das Einspielen von /lib/i686/* auf einer SuSE 8.x das System zerschiesst :-/
