Mithilfe eines PHP- und MySQL-Lehrbuchs habe ich versucht, mein root-PW wieder herzustellen. Folgende Schritte ging ich durch:

# kill 1345
# mysqld --skip-grant-tables
Fatal error: Please read "Security" section of the manual to find out how to run mysqld as root!
060730 18:02:50  Aborting

060730 18:02:50  mysqld: Shutdown Complete

Weitere Schritte laut Buch wären folgende gewesen:

mysql> USE mysql;
mysql> UPDATE user SET Password=PASSWORD("neues_Passwort")
    -> WHERE USer="root";

Aber bis hierhin kam ich schon garnicht mehr...

mysql läuft mittlerweile wieder normal. Kann mir jemand noch eine andere Methode zur Wiederherstellung des root-PW nennen?

Was noch wichtig ist: Ich habe die normale LAMP-Konstellation auf meinem Server, ABER mit Confixx vorinstalliert. Ein Angebot von Alturo.de

I have lost my MySQL root password, how can I get in?
Answer :
If you have forgotten the root user password for MySQL, you can restore it with the following procedure:

Take down the mysqld server by sending a kill (not kill -9) to the mysqld server.

The pid is stored in a .pid file, which is normally in the MySQL database directory:
kill `cat /mysql-data-directory/hostname.pid`

You must be either the Unix root user or the same user the server runs as to do this.

Restart mysqld with the --skip-grant-tables option.

Connect to the mysqld server with mysql -h hostname mysql and change the password with a GRANT command.

See section 7.35 GRANT and REVOKE Syntax http://www.mysql.com/doc/G/R/GRANT.html

You can also do this with mysqladmin -h hostname -u user password 'new password'

Load the privilege tables with: mysqladmin -h hostname flush-privileges or with the SQL command FLUSH PRIVILEGES.

Note that after you started mysqld with --skip-grant-tables, any usage of GRANT commands will give you an Unknown command error until you have executed FLUSH PRIVILEGES.

Defacto steht da nichts neues. Dass ich als Root auf Linux arbeiten muss, war mir klar.
An der Stelle, die ich mit dem Pfeil <<== gekennzeichnet habe, komme ich nicht weiter, wegen der Fehlermeldung...

Wieso liest du dann nicht die Doku, auf die dort explizit verwiesen wird? Dann würdest du feststellen, dass du mysql einfach mit dem user parameter start musst:

mysql --user=user_name --skip-grant-tables
