Endlosschleife durch fehlendes Script?

Seit Tagen habe ich Probs mit dem Webserver. In unregelmäßigen Abständen macht er ein Mehrfaches (ca. 120) der sonst üblichen (15-30) Prozesse auf und friert schließlich ganz ein.
Der Fehler hat sogar eine Reinitialisierung von SuSE 8.1 auf SuSE 9.1 überlebt.
Das Apache Error-log bringt massig folgenden Fehler:

Bevor es allerdings diese Fehlermeldungen hagelt ist im Log immer folgendes zu sehen:

script not found or unable to stat
Ohne jede weiter Angabe - kein Path wo dieses Script gesucht wird.
Dr. Google kennt wohl diese Prob und wertet es als ein Script das ausgeführt werden soll aber irtümlich gelöscht wurde oder als eine Scriptkiddy Attacke.
Die Meldung kommt ohne jedes chronologische System, nur einmal am Tag, drei mal in einer Stunde, dann wieder zwei Tage garnet.
Da hinter Meldung keine Pathangabe folgt, finde ich dieses Script einfach nicht. :roll:

Das Script viewtopic.php sehe ich als unkritsch an, da der Fehler auch kommt wenn das ganze Forum deaktiviert ist.

Bin mit meinem (recht kleinen) Latein am Ende. Wie könnte ich die Suche ausweiten?

Ich habe in den letzten Tagen folgendes versucht:
- Frontpageerweiterung deaktiviert
- Ausführung von CGI Scripts deaktiviert
- max. httpd Prozesse runter von 150 auf 60

Wie könnte ich evt das im log aufgeführte Script finden? Falls es der Auslöser ist?
